# Quoting

## Description

> This command is only available on servers that have the `MESSAGE_QUOTING` feature.

Manages quoting across servers with [`/quote`](https://docs.utilbot.co/commands/misc/quote). Both switches are off by default.

* `sharing` decides whether messages of this server may be quoted in other servers.
* `receiving` decides whether messages of other servers may be quoted in this server.
* `status` shows the state of both switches.

A quote across servers needs the server the message is from to share and the server it is posted in to receive. Members can only quote messages from servers they are a member of and from channels they can read.

The same switches are on the Message Quoting page of the dashboard.
